Cooperation with Bystronic Laser AG

Process-oriented production logistics

In 2016, Bystronic Laser AG started the cooperation with EMIL EGGER. What began with simple warehouse logistics has developed over the last few years into trained and process-oriented production logistics.

It all started with the storage and handling of some production goods at the Härkingen warehouse location. From the simple incoming goods inspection (checking the goods for visible damage) to the provision and transport of the goods, as required, to the Niederönz production facility. Communication was conventional by telephone and e-mail. With the average order quantity of 10 stock orders per day and one transport per day to Niederönz, a manageable effort.

In the following year, warehouse logistics were expanded to an area of 1,600 m². The outsourcing orders experienced an increase and a shuttle service between Härkingen and Niederönz became necessary. EMIL EGGER took over additional services, such as the preparation of formwork of different machine types for jointly developed circulation packs for production. The customer Bystronic was thus relieved and could focus more on its core competencies and continue to grow. So it happened that EMIL EGGER was allowed to start with the export shipment of the equipment for different machine types of a new series in the same year.

TAKING LOGISTICS TO THE NEXT LEVEL

“The cooperation with EMIL EGGER AG is based on trust and mutual respect.

The entire logistics concept that we were able to establish with EMIL EGGER (including IT connection) has made our intralogistics massively more efficient. With the EMIL EGGER company, we were able to take our logistics to the next level!”

RELIABLE & SOLUTION ORIENTED

“EMIL EGGER is an extremely reliable and solution-oriented partner.

The cooperation is always friendly and very pleasant, whether on the phone or with the chauffeurs on site. Our wishes and concerns are always implemented quickly and unbureaucratically to our great satisfaction.”

Stefan Morgenegg,
Teamleader Logistics

In 2018, a new warehouse was completed on the site in Härkingen. There is now over 3,000 m² of storage space available. With the newly added storage area, Bystronic Laser AG’s goods were re-bundled and stored, checked, prepared and loaded at a central location. As EMIL EGGER already has decades of experience in the field of machine logistics, Swiss end customers may now also be served. Whether standard transports or special transports in the extra-wide segment – in the operational area, efficiency was thus increased on both sides.

Due to the increasingly intensive cooperation, the decision is made in the fall of 2020 to implement a bidirectional interface between the warehouse management systems of Bystronic and EGGER. With the help of a specially assembled project team, the basic processes of cooperation were redefined and recorded. Sub-processes were also taken into account and included and implemented in the IT adaptations on both sides. After various test runs, the interface was activated about 1 year after the decision was made and from now on facilitates the ever-increasing order volumes.

In the meantime, 250 removal orders per week are completed as well as approx. 13 truckloads of storage. In total, 18 trips per week are implemented as part of the production shuttle. A total of 900 different items are stored in various sizes and packaging units.

Since 2017, over 2,000 additional machines and equipment have been loaded into trucks or overseas containers for export.

Replacement of three old RHB steel bridges by ETE crane logistics
Not far from the fashionable spa and resort town of St. Moritz in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, a Liebherr LR 11000 crawler crane has installed a 176-ton railroad bridge. This most powerful crawler crane in Switzerland belongs to the logistics and transport company EMIL EGGER AG and got the job done at an altitude of just under 2,000 meters in the Alps – with an unusual setup configuration due to lack of space. In total, three aged truss bridges of the Rhaetian Railway were replaced by the Liebherr crane.
